The Great Compromise

rom_border This past weekend, we started playing Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, you read that right; we actually started a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. (hey, don’t judge) We got the character sheets, the maps, the guide books, a four person party, a sadistic Dungeon Master, and multisided dice galore. Geek levels are at MAX, (and damn proud of it) though finding willing participants involved some compromises. To be clear, she didn’t actually play as Hello Kitty; but just wanted to use the figurine. (that could’ve been part of the original compromise) She makes awesome cupcakes and brownies, so it’s all good.

LTTP +1

rom_border LAAAAAAAATE update. To all of our readers (all 4 of you. and we appreciate every single one of you), I apologize for the late update. Though we’ve never really declared it, we try to update every Wednesday and someday hope to double that. This week is another guest comic from our friend Sak, whom may just start being a regular drawer for us! (now we have 6 readers! …no wait he’s included in the 4… damn it!) Anywhoo, today’s comic continues the lesson on moral goodness that video games teach.

Karate Kid Part Deux

rom_border I don’t have a problem that they are remaking a movie from my childhood days. That’s certainly nothing new, but It’s surprising to me that this level of cultural insensitivity can be allowed to pass this day in age. I mean, it’s 20fucking10! We’re in the future! And looking at the comment threads on the YouTube trailer and other articles regarding the remake, it’s clear I am not the only one with issues against these Hollywood racists.

A few things…

profile I’ve just got some updates I want to share with you guys:

Captain Forever-ever-ever-er-er-rrrr…
This is a nice little indie flash game I found on RPS that blends (stay with me folks) Asteroids + RTS + Legos. Some patience and commitment will be involved, so just promise me you won’t lose your job over harvesting space pirates. If you like Captain Forever, you can check out its sequel, Captain Successor, if you register on his site. Way to go, Farbs!

EA Sports Active - $39.77
Any of you still keeping up with your resolutions? (If I slip up a little in January, it still counts!)

Nostalgia. Bloody Nostalgia.

Today's comic is a guest strip drawn by our good friend Sak a.k.a. Saint. Certainly, if his dulcet strokes have melted your cold, bitter heart, voice your opinion over yonder!

Now that a particular associate and I have the means to acquire a substantial library of games, our nostalgic curiosity has blossomed. I recently played through the original God of War (PS2); A privelege that a younger Doc cast aside as fantasy.

No Bullshit Review of Avatar

rom_border I recently watched the much hyped James Cameron’s Avatar in the theaters. I am a big movie buff and huge fan of Science Fiction. Also enjoyed every single James Cameron film before Titanic. (really Jim? From The Terminator to Titanic??) So, I was very excited to hear that he was making his way back to the Science Fiction genre. I was not able to watch it on or close to opening night, but only ended up paying $8 for the ticket. (bargain matinee, FTW!!) It was the first showing on a Saturday morning and I was pleasantly surprised to find that bargain matinees still existed. I think there might have been less than 10 other people in the theater with me. So, with a private screening atmosphere and (relatively) cheap tickets, here’s my most objective review:

Christmas Miracle

rom_border Last week my XBOX 360 froze on me leaving me stranded out in the cold. I mean that literally. I tried several times to fix it but each time I turned the system on, it would freeze up on me faster and faster until the screen would completely freeze the moment I hit the power button. But then a few days ago, as I was surfing the interwebs for a deal on a new console and also looking up what interesting thing I can do to a broken XBOX 360, I just happened to turn the console on for shit and giggles. That’s when I saw it. Three lights around the power button. They were blinking. Most importantly, they were REDNow that my console officially gained the status of RRoD, it would be covered under the extended 3 year warranty and I won’t have to pay a single penny to have the console fixed. I powered the console on and off to make sure it wasn’t just a fluke either. BUT WAIT! That’s not the Christmas Miracle (although the juxtaposition of the red blinking lights and the green power icon did seem more than just a coincidence) So, I logged on to the XBOX website and continued to submit my free request to have my console repaired and with everything in order, I powered off my console and I went to bed.
