Dragon Roll

rom_border Between my three shiny new games I recently acquired, I think I’ve been investing most of my time into Dragon Age: Origins. And most of my time has been spent rerolling my character (three times already) to create the perfect character that I wanted to play. Even then still not perfect but, I am now content enough with my Elven Rogue and ready to invest the 60+ hours of game play that DAO has promised me. Unless that 60 hours includes character creation, because then I think I have about 10 hours left to play…

FUCK! I knew I should’ve spent more points on stealth

So far there’s just been an insane amount of talking and background story. The voice acting is great for a game, but there’s just SO MUCH talking. I’m more used to playing Japanese RPGs that generally has a linear storyline, very little character customization, and short and sweet side quests. Even the side quests for DAO can get quite extensive that can have a impact on the main story line it seems. Oh yea, and did I mention they talk a lot? No? well they do.
As much as I gripe about the incessant talking, I DO like the game. If I wasn’t so OCD about creating the perfect character, I’d be much farther along by now. Trust me, I wouldn’t bother if I thought the game sucked. There is a lot to explore and the storyline with the side quests and all are well written. It’s easy to see how one can get completely immersed in the game. Especially to be able to play a badass and kill someone just because they talk too much is totally cool too. Although I did have to reload a game because I chose to kill an old mage and realized later that she was supposed become the party healer. She just wouldn’t shut up.

Uhh.. I didn't mean that... I swear...
THIS right here. Don’t do THIS.

I’m sure I’ll play it through again with a different character class but this time choosing the “good” decisions. At least I’ll know the storyline well enough that I can skip to the decisions without listening to all the talk. Because, you know, there’s some talking in this game.

  1. Seriously. That Keebler just took everything out of Stealth and Dexterity and put it right into Cookies.
