No Bullshit Review of Avatar

rom_border I recently watched the much hyped James Cameron’s Avatar in the theaters. I am a big movie buff and huge fan of Science Fiction. Also enjoyed every single James Cameron film before Titanic. (really Jim? From The Terminator to Titanic??) So, I was very excited to hear that he was making his way back to the Science Fiction genre. I was not able to watch it on or close to opening night, but only ended up paying $8 for the ticket. (bargain matinee, FTW!!) It was the first showing on a Saturday morning and I was pleasantly surprised to find that bargain matinees still existed. I think there might have been less than 10 other people in the theater with me. So, with a private screening atmosphere and (relatively) cheap tickets, here’s my most objective review:

Christmas Miracle

rom_border Last week my XBOX 360 froze on me leaving me stranded out in the cold. I mean that literally. I tried several times to fix it but each time I turned the system on, it would freeze up on me faster and faster until the screen would completely freeze the moment I hit the power button. But then a few days ago, as I was surfing the interwebs for a deal on a new console and also looking up what interesting thing I can do to a broken XBOX 360, I just happened to turn the console on for shit and giggles. That’s when I saw it. Three lights around the power button. They were blinking. Most importantly, they were REDNow that my console officially gained the status of RRoD, it would be covered under the extended 3 year warranty and I won’t have to pay a single penny to have the console fixed. I powered the console on and off to make sure it wasn’t just a fluke either. BUT WAIT! That’s not the Christmas Miracle (although the juxtaposition of the red blinking lights and the green power icon did seem more than just a coincidence) So, I logged on to the XBOX website and continued to submit my free request to have my console repaired and with everything in order, I powered off my console and I went to bed.

Connoisseur du Adirondack

rom_border I understand that Left 4 Dead 2 is not meant to be realistic (it’s a pity, really) and is just a game that sensationalizes the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse.  So, I can accept the fact that when a survivor falls to the ground “incapacitated,” they can fire dual pistols, reload, and continue to fire, but incapable of firing their primary automatic firearms or throw a pipe bomb. I can accept that. I can even accept it when, as a survivor, you can’t refuse to be healed by another survivor. But some shit is just ridiculous.

Who I Am

rom_border No major update today. But still playing my games. I really should just focus on one and beat it to death and move on. But every game gives me a chance to play a different persona and that’s what role playing is about, rite? An escape from my antisocial hermit life… hahaha.. just kidding. There is no real escape from this life… so~ anywayz~

My Knife!

rom_border Last week I wrote about Dragon Age: Origins and today I’ll move on to what else is taking up my waking time, (other than that stupid thing called ‘work’), Call of Duty: MW2.  The main draw of this game is the multiplayer mode. They really succeeded in just making everything better. The weapon set you can unlock is nothing less than awesomeness. They even made the regular old run-of-the-mill melee knife cool, but not without it’s drawbacks of course. But as if being able to throw your knife for an instant kill wasn’t cool enough, you can unlock the Tactical Knife which, combined with Marathon, Light Weight, and Commando Perks, makes you a knife wielding speed demon.

Sort of like this but also with a .44 Magnum, Uzi, Frag grenade, and two flash bangs.
